Take Off

Let’s just say it: Flying is FUN!

It doesn’t matter whether the pilot is puttering around low and slow on a sunny afternoon in a TriPacer, or streaking across the evening sky in an airliner, being an aviator is an incomparable joy. Route 66 Flight School is dedicated to only one thing: helping you reach safely and successfully for the skies . . . all while having fun!

Route 66 Flight School is located in the JetSet FBO at Wiley Post Airport, which is immediately north of Route 66. Because of its relationship to the road, pilots fly over the Mother Road on every flight. The airport itself is named for a famed early aviator who pioneered high altitude flying, discovered the jet stream, and was the first pilot to fly solo around the world.

Another facet of our mission is the development of community.

Even as a beginning pilot, you immediately become part of the fraternity of flyers. Aviators are a dedicated, happy bunch who are always eager to welcome a new pilot to their midst. As a developing pilot, you are "in" with all who have "Slipped the surly bonds of earth."

Route 66 Flight School pilots take part in various local flying events, and enjoy group fly-away trips to one-of-a-kind attractions, many of them along the Mother Road.
